The Politics of Jesus; or, Who would Jesus side with in the coming civil war?

Who would Jesus side with in the coming civil war?

Yup.  That’s the questions I’m asking.

I’m asking not just because the far right, fringe prophet Rick Joyner has had dreams from God about the coming second civil war (though I’m a fan of God speaking to us in dreams and other words — I am a sacramental charismatic after all — but Joyner is offering a false prophecy).

I’m asking because there is a marked rise on the right and the left of those who see violence as justified if their candidate doesn’t win.

So my question is, who would Jesus side with?

  • Those on the right protecting religious freedoms from the onslaught of liberal socialism?
  • Or those on the right protecting vulnerable people oppressed by white nationalism?
  • Or…?

Outline:

Tomorrow I’m going to look at “Did Jesus Know Anything About Oppressive Governments” (hint: yes), where I talk about the history of oppression that Israel experience by Greeks and then Romans, and the surging national pride that sought to be freedom from their overlords.

Then on Monday I’ll look at “The Four Options for Responding to Oppressive Governments” and how God’s messiah was going to handle things.

Then we’ll finish on Tuesday as we look at “Jesus and the Radical Kingdom of God.
