The Cure, not the Cause, of Suffering

Let us never say that God is the cause of our suffering. But let us always say, hope, and know that God (the Father sending the Son in the power of the Spirit) IS THE CURE.

Yes, the problem of evil is important. And yes, many of us have been give very bad answers (“That God sends suffering to teach us something…” or “God has a reason for everything,” and “There are no accidents with God.”

But the gospel is clear that God is righting all wrongs, repairing all ruptures.

So let us never say that God is the cause of our suffering. But let us always say, hope, and know that God (the Father sending the Son in the power of the Spirit) IS THE CURE.

I would say “Ask Job” or even “Ask Jesus”. I have read commentaries on Job, and heard sermons on Job. But until recently, I had never heard anyone speak about Job like they really understood it. And that was Adam Young. Or you can just read Isaiah 30:20.

And when I say “Ask Jesus”, I believe that His sheep really do hear His voice, and sometimes it is clearest to those of no reputation.
