I am native Californian who now calls Chicago home (because it is a great city and I keeps telling myself that it really is not part of the mid-west). I’m wonderfully married to Cyd and have two wonderful boys, Soren and Tennyson. I serve as a co-pastor at Life on the Vine, along with David Fitch, Cyd Holsclaw, and Ty Grigg. I am also a doctoral candidate at Marquette University studying the intersection of theology and society, but specifically how liturgy and politics relates. Philosophy, music, and now basketball are some of my favorite hobbies.
Recently I became an affiliate professor of theology at Northern Seminary teaching M.Div and D.Min courses on theology and culture, of which I am very excited. Amazing things are afoot at Northern!
Also, I’m coming out with my first book (with Dave Fitch) in March 2013 called Prodigal Christianity: 10 Signposts into the Missional Frontier (Jossey-Bass Leadership Network Series). We are hoping it will significantly move forward the missional church movement, especially those who have an affinity with Missio Alliance.
This blog collects the thoughts I have on the missional church, theology and philosophy, politics and culture. I admit I’m all over the place but hopefully you’ll find some of it interesting and helpful.
Also, we’ve been very blessed to gather many skilled musicians here at Life on the Vine, and so I’ve had the pleasure of working with them to produce some original music, some based off older hymns, and others based all within our community. You’ll find those below via soundcloud.
You can also follow me on Twitter or Facebook, and I’m also helping organize the The Church and Postmodern Culture blog.
