#17 Should the Church Protest?

Are you a soldier of reconciliation, or a crusader of some other cause?

What is the role of the church in a culture of injustice?
What is the church’s witness within a world of fear?

When the fear of African-Americans at the hands of police violence is now matched by the fear of White American at the hands of terrorists, does the church have anything to say, anything to do?

With the mass protests in Chicago in mind and the shooting in San Bernardino on their hearts (and just hours before Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s disconcerting all to arm Christians against Muslims, of which we all must repent), David Fitch and Geoff Holsclaw talked about getting out of the cycle of violence upon violence upon violence, about the need to be well practiced in the art of reconciliation.

Simply, Are you a soldier of reconciliation, or a crusader of some other cause? Are you in the volunteer army of reconciliation, or are you serving another?
